Converse Weapon
Championed by Larry Bird and Magic Johnson in some of the most iconic sneaker promo ever, the Converse Weapon ruled the footwear world before Michael Jordan took it over. Introduced in earnest in 1986, the Converse Weapon was among the first of its kind, a high-top sneaker outfitted with basketball specific tooling to ensure on-court performance.
Just under 40 years later, Converse is seeking to pivot their modern strategy around the classic silhouette, enlisting huge names like A-COLD-WALL, Rick Owens, Kasina and Shai-Gilgeous Alexander to assist in the effort. As their 2024 release plans have begun to play out, we’ve also seen a new low-cut, lifestyle version of the sneaker titled the Converse Weapon Ox that may present a new signature model for the Chuck sneaker giant.
