Whenever an original colorway of the Air Jordan re-issues, the comparisons are bound to happen. Thanks to YungDrSeuss, we have a nice side-by-side of the Air Jordan IV White/Cement – 1999 Retro vs. the upcoming 2012 edition. The tone of grey is obviously different (Tech Grey being a much darker shade) and of course, how do you not notice the difference in the branding on the heel? That just goes to show how long it’s actually been since the Air Jordan IV White/Cement last graced the planet, and this February 18th, 2012, the newer generation will have the opportunity to enjoy one of the greatest OG Air Jordans of all time. Had the 89's and the 99's and i have to say that the 89's were darker than the 99's. i still like the 99's allot more. the differences are not so bad though ithat i would avoid buying these several times over. it is better than not having them at all. i may even add bigger black spots on them to make them similar to the speckle(sp?) on the 99's. aside from even doing htat-Legit shoe. wear it till it falls apart!!
damn this post reminds me how the 4s r one pair of js that actually need tha nike air on the back.....still them joints cray.....

I had the originals (not the 99 retros) and these really sadden me. These are such a let down to me personally. I am glad that a new generation gets to experience the style, but for those that don't understand why some of us are mad it is because we feel taken for granted. We made Jordan rich and the only thing he has done is lessen the quality of the shoes and charge more for them. It's insulting! I personally have just accepted you can't go back and now refuse to buy any more Nike products!

People hate to see a new retro outdue an old one. Even in his video he didnt mention that the speckles varies on each shoe. Some are big some are small some come with alot or less, he didnt say nobe of that. Thats what I mean people favor older retros like there OG's. C'mon man you kno by now that speckles come in different shapes and sizes and counts like they always did, no 99 retro speckles are exactly like yours. Even the bordeaux 7 's have different tongues on them none are the same even the metallic 5 speckles are different get it together
dude no one is hating a new retro outdoing an older release because it has never happened (except the 2011 metallic v's probably) nor are we pissed about the speckle pattern although the 2012s look very very very patterned unlike the 99's which are completely random......... wtf are you talking about?
People r hating u must have not read the comments. And it has happen where retros shadowed over others. Remember quality is based on performance my guy. Everybody looks at a shoe and say these garbage og's rule but in this case the 99's do. The 99's r like all the others they crack and fold up just as bad as the new ones. Great quality won't be like that son and u can't judge the 2012's with out wearing them for awhile.
These are not the OGs. I remember when i had the 1989 OG pair , got them for 110 . Now we're spening 160 + tax for lesser quaility. But we all know we still going to buy the new retros. But this has been one of the best retros i've seen so far. Hopefully all the 4s that come out in 2012.
What the hell happened to leather in the past 10 years? Step it up JB. If this is how the leather on the 10s looks I am going to save a lot of cash next year.
This isn't leather. It never was for the white/cement IVs. Synthetics have always been used for the uppers of this colorway.

Quality Is Seen Mad Heavy The Mesh On 99s Are Thicker And Sticking Is Thicker Only Quality On The 2012s Is The Word Flight Is SPelld Better And The Logo Stiching Is A Little Better But Beside That I Know The 99s Quality Is Built Better Had Fun With My Pair

Sometimes I hate looking at these comparisons. For the simple reason that the new stuff is wack compared to the oldest iterations of the same shoe. I understand that changes are expected, especially after so many years. But it just goes to show you how the build quality of the newer stuff went down the toilet compared to the originals. Or, even compared to older retros. Don't get it twisted now, that's not to take away from these 2012 4s though. They still look great, at least to the naked eye.

I agree, the darker "tech grey" is better and more like the OG's and NOT the 99's. You could also compare this situation with people bitching over the blue tinted icey soles on the 2011 concord XI's because the OG''s on those also had a blue-ish tinted sole too.
the main thing most people are concerned about is quality!
