Need proof that the Air Jordan XI is the most beloved Air Jordan of all-time? Just look at immense media frenzy caused by the chaotic release of the Concords late last week. ‘Concords’ is no longer a term exclusive to sneakerheads, but one that has infiltrated pop-culture mainstream waves, so let’s take a quick look back to the origins of the XI; these early sketches done by Air Jordan XI designer Tinker Hatfield reveals what exactly Tinker had in mind, but did he know that the XI would be the success it is today? Take a look below and let us know if you think the Air Jordan XI is the greatest Air Jordan of all-time. via Complex.

i wonder if tinker was thinking anything near all the fame and craziness these shoes would bring while he was sketching these...
My footlocker jus got a second shipment and I jus picked up my second pair.. I kinda knew that was gonna happen but I only found out cuz my boy works there so check your local if you didn't get to cop or lookin for a second pair...
I love this ! Sneaker sites would make so much money off of me if they blew these up into poster size ! I have pics of old Jordan patents for the shoes. pretty dope
The sneaker went through some extraordinary design phases, seeming to draw inspiration from snowboarding boots, if anything. Fortunately they were toned down and ultimately morphed into the design we currently see. Such a timeless design deserves the recognition it is receiving today... Thank you, Mr. Hatfield.
You dudes are lame as hell. I like the shoe like anyone else does but damn. It's a shoe. It's not that serious.
I feel like whoever takes his sketches and transfers them to the production shoe is really the one to be credited with the shoes designs. All his sketches are pretty far off from the finished product. I'm not hating, I'm just saying that's how it seems. Unless there is always a round of sketches they NEVER release
To artist and designers it is! Ibet u were out in the concord frenzy and ppl who were clueless looked at u like "wtf is he doing, its just a shoe! Go home and go to sleep!" Just sayin. To eaxh its own. Im with javi on this one. Im an aspiring shoe designer, so his sketches ARE a big deal to me. I actually look up to Tinker
