Air Jordan XI + IV ‘Bred’ – Increased Prices For Holiday 2012

One of the most stirring topics of 2011 was our report on Nike’s plans to increase prices ‘across the board’, measures that were immediately put into place once we welcomed the New Year. Some of Nike’s heritage models like the Air Force 1 and Air Max 95 were bumped up a few bucks, while higher-end shoes like the LeBron 9 raised itself to $170 and eventually $250 with the Elite. This tidbit of information from TSG shows that Jordan Brand will take part in yet another increase, as the upcoming Holiday releases of the Air Jordan IV ‘Bred’ (November/Black Friday) and Air Jordan XI ‘Bred’ (December) will see significant leaps in price. The baseline MSRP of Retro Jordans have reached an astounding $160 already, but the Bred IV will eclipse that mark by $20 to the $180 mark, while the Air Jordan XI ‘Bred’ will occupy the same jump from the $180 MSRP of 2011′s Concords to $200 flat. Is the slow but steady increase of Nike’s prices on its products just a way to stay consistent with inflation and rising costs of pretty much everything from oil to bubble gum, or is this a way to capitalize on the global popularity of sneakers?

RIDICULOUS!!! This will be my last year for J's.. If im goin to pay that much the quality better be worth it! Nevertheless, The Bred 11's are my favorite shoe and i missed out on the package cuz i was deployed so this isnt a bad way to finish my 'retro" colection.. But this is outrageous to say te least.. smh
Why are people complaining about a $20 price increase on something they were already going to spend $160-180 on? If you have $160, you have to have $20 lying around somewhere...
Thanks to all the resellers. Nike saw that people are willing to pay more than retail price so this is what happens. Fuck resellers!!!
What sucks is that even if people boycott these and stop buying them as some people here have suggested, eBay resellers will still buy all of them up and Nike will still make $$$.
Well, I need to put some more cash away. Like everyone else thats complaining, I don't like the price increase either. But what that will do is stop all these cats that are not true sneakerheads from getting them and more of an opportunity for me. I want them both and I will get them both. Just sayin people!

Instead of increasing the price Nike/JB should produce a couple 1000 more of each of these so people that actualy want to buy them can get them in the stores and not off some eBay resellers. That puts the profit in Nike's/JB's pocket and would kill the reseller market. Basic economics, right ?? But rarity = hype = profit so guess that's out of the question.

not thrilled with the price hike but it will kill the reseller..with an iv at 180 we better get nike air back and a $200 xi we better get patent leather quality as in 1996 style but i will get both!

You the reseller is a contributing part of this whole problem. Concords were going for a 1,000 or more then it died down but still i seen plenty listed above 400. so imagine now with retail at 200, we are talking about 500 possbily reaching 600 AFTER the crazyness dies down.

I'm sick of hearing all the bitching. You all complain about the lines, this will slim down the line. You call Nike greedy, yet people in here either have these shoes already and are gonna cop another or people are gonna cop multiples. Sneakers are a WANT, not a need. If you really want these shoes, you will find a way to make it happen. Live within your means people. One of the reason that sneakers are so special is because there is always that shoe out there that you want and can't have. If Nike makes it possible for you to cop every shoe that drops, it would be no fun. Part of the fun of the hobby, at least for me, is picking and choosing which shoes to get and which shoes not to get, within my budget. If everyone had every shoe, there would be no point. The same people on here that pay resell prices on the regular are complaining about these prices. You are the ones that created this market. Blame yourselves.
This will not slim down lines. Look at the foams as an example or the xi that have dropped since the space jams in 09. The madness will continue. They drop these around Xmas time so kids will spend Xmas money on them.
Let me be real, I love jordans since I was younger and could never get them because my parents thought anything over 100 was crazy. I vowed that when I would get older I would go back and get everything I missed, but now as a husband of 2 this increase hurts. What the real tragedy here is the toddlers starting at $80 so everything from there up is going to be over $100.....sad day
The Price for Producing those shoes are around 20 USD and the Material is not even real F/G Leather.... KISS MY ASS NIKE...thats too much money --> maybe people shall boycott those shoes <--
Stop complaining about the cost of a luxury item, you don't need every colorway of every Retro that comes out. When these were OG's people were happy to buy a pair or two and the wait for next years new Jordan. Now people bitch that they can't afford to buy 10-20 pairs a year, most of which are probably never worn. If you want to spend your disposable income on them, that's cool, but don't bitch about the price like they put your rent up.
Business 101: when cost exceeds value, people leave. However when the demand of a product exceeds its value, keep selling to the consumer. I respect Nike as a business, but its not worth the quality of the product. The shoe game is being exploited. Can't knock the hustle doe.
YEAH! Price increases will officially put me out the game been collecting since 2000-01 and I pretty much got everything i need. So if Kids gone pay let em pay. Will probably get back into forces and sb's if they step there game up.
LOL @ all the people who are saying they won't buy these. I think MAYBE 15% (at most) of the people who claim they won't buy it, won't actually buy it. As if these shoes are necessities for life. If you are willing to spend money on materialistic goods, be prepared to pay the price. It's really isn't even all that bad. Ya'll Americans think you got it bad? Us Canadians have it sooooo bad. We'll be paying $220-230 for the IVs and $240-$250 for the XIs. On top of that, my province has a 12% tax. Amazing how we are just north of the border to USA yet we pay the same, sometimes even a higher price than the people from New Zealand do! A user from New Zealand said they pay $240 for theirs. I guess our government can be blamed for the customs charges causing the CAD MSRP to increase. However, I know for a fact some retailers here in Canada just use the "customs charges" excuse to raise the MSRP when, in fact, they dont even pay a customs charge (well not all the time) on the item they are selling. To hell with big box Canadian retailers!
I think im done with jays. I like the shoes but now is the time to invest in a house and no sneaker news gas prices are based on a different market. Its because of the problems in the middle east that drives up prices of oil. Jordans are based on supply and demand the faster they sell out the higher the prices will go. The only way for the price to go down is to stop hyping every release and stop paying stupid prices.
Just buy older retros if you're gonna spend that much. Let the hypebeasts and resellers have them.

This is crazy man...my dad told me these bad boys retailed for damn near ONLY $120 and the quality of them were perfect...now look at the prices...$200 and horrible quality...its crazy man...

here is why jb keeps going up on us.. they see that people are willing to pay high re sale price why not up the original price since people are willing to pay more just too buy from re sellers .. prices won't go up if we stop buying from re sellers point blank period
