The Jordan Brand Flight 23 Opening Ceremony

February 1st, 2014 by / 15

NYC’s bustling 34th street was quite a bit busier than normal this morning: hundreds of Jordan Brand devotees lined the block, DJ Envy of Power 105 fame was blasting tunes, and celebrities darted about all in anticipation of the grand opening of the Jordan Brand Flight 23 store. For the uninitiated: the store, created in partnership with Footaction, is a one of a kind space that marks Jordan Brand’s first ever foray into a dedicated retail spot here in North America. Needless to say, that kind of event is bound to draw a crowd thanks to the rich history Jordan Brand has not only in the world of sneakers but also specifically in the Big Apple.

And so hundreds waited for the ribbon cutting ceremony that would mark the official opening of the Jordan Brand Flight 23 store. Even the actual ribbon cutting had some MJ flavor to it; in place of your traditional red ribbon was a jumbo-sized elephant print shoe lace that was “untied” rather than cut. Once that was out of the way the massive amounts of eager sneaker devotees and celebrity friends of the brand like Spike Lee begin to trickle into the spot, and the Brooklyn-born actor/director participated in the official ceremony with Jordan Brand President Larry Miller and Footaction President and CEO Jake Jacobs. Continue reading for an exclusive set of photos from the opening ceremony for the Jordan Brand Flight 23 store and watch for an inside look at Jordan Brand’s new retail location right here on Sneaker News soon.

Jordan Brand Flight 23 is located on 225 W 34 St. in Midtown Manhattan.

Pix #7 shows all lousy dressers by these resellers. At least a couple of them are checking their ebay items for fools who make bids on their overpriced bot-sniped pair.

Jus left da store... It was pretty dope. Great set up & dedication exhibits throughout da place... Will definitely make a few purchases here & there. Word is they are gonna have high quantities when retros drop... And their havin a massive restock some time in March.... So good look in there. Foot actions answer to Footlockers House of Hoops.

Those re-releases look pretty underwhelming.

pic 7 says it all. a bunch of "jordan fans" and not a single pair of jordans on any of their feet. all of them probably with 30+ pairs in their closets too smh

@greghall024  so sneakerheads are only bound to having Jordans? I personally know some of these people, and they have all types of heat.

@callpluto @greghall024  hey i believe you! it's great to diversify and they have definitely some nice non-jordan heat. but all those guys not wearing any jordans at the opening of flight 23?!? that just ain't right lol

@greghall024 @callpluto  I think it's lame to wear heat to stand in line anyways. The fact that nobody got super dressed up to camp out overnight was relieving to me.
