Aside from the obvious (in some cases unavoidable) similarities in design that all basketball shoes are bound to share, adidas does a good job of pretty much never appearing to bite Nike’s steez, or anyone else’s for that matter. Their bold use of Three Stripes on the side panels in recent years has been bolstered by dudes who can back it up like Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett.
Count Tim-may amongst the group of adi-sponsored ballers who rocked a crazy Halloween edition of the adidas TS Commander this past weekend. Much like the Nike Blazer released with lenticular holigram tarsals, these take the white-on-black stripe motif to its logical extreme, revealing white ‘bones’ beneath the black upper. Peep Duncan’s Commanders with the X-Ray look, along with up-and-coming adidas NBA guys like Deshawn Stephensen (not giving up a game winner, for once), Aaron Afflalo and Brooke Lopez after the jump. via Kenlu

At the Nike Knows Training – 2009 Summit earlier this year, Nike gave the attendees a sneak peek at several upcoming special projects from the Nike Training group. One of those little surprises is the above Nike Trainer 1 with a Max-360 sole which adds to the responsiveness of the Trainer 1 for heavy training regiments. With the upcoming fight against Miguel Ángel Cotto of Puerto Rico, Pacquiao is doing some heavy duty training right now and was recently seen in a pair of the Nike Trainer 1/360. Take a look below for the full image.

In a perfect ending to a new start the New York Yankees won their 27th Championship in their brand new stadium after going eight years without a win. While the entire team took home the win, it was three names that made it count with Hideki Matsui’s home run and six RBI’s which tied a Word Series record, Andy Pettitte holding it down for a little over five innings and of course our favorite closer Mariano Rivera shutting it down. As some of you may notice most of the Yanks were in a variety of Nikes, though we didn’t catch anything crazy like C.C. Sabathia who had on Air Jordan XI Cleats during the ALDS Game 1. Check out a few more photos below…

Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavailers have gotten off to a sluggish start this 2009-10 NBA Season but they finally took home their first Win this past Saturday at Quicken Loans Arena. Lebron also showed off the White, Black, and Varsity Red colorway of his seventh signature shoe from Nike Basketball, the Nike Air Max Lebron VII. At the Baltimore stop on Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3 Tour, Wale was spotted in the Copper Nike Foamposites that are set to release next Spring 2010 and Jay-Z was seen in a pair of the Air Jordan III’s in Black and Cement. Jay-Z whose monikored the idea of wearing “Black for a year straight” was seen once again in all Black, with a Play Cloths t-shirt, Black sunglasses, Black pants, and of course the Black and Cement Air Jordan III’s.

We knew we’d see this sooner or later and with Wale’s past record of heat on his feet, we are not surprised to see him with the Copper Nike Foamposite on. From our previous post on the Nike Air Foamposite One – Dirty Copper we know they are scheduled for a Spring 2010 release with them hitting stores as soon as late January 2010. But of course with Wale’s hook ups he had them on while performing at last nights Jay Z Blueprint 3 Tour stop in Baltimore. Stay with Sneaker News for more info and photo leaks soon! When Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3 Tour hit Cleveland, Ohio, some of Cleveland’s most notable residents showed up to the concert including the Cavaliers biggest offseason acquisition, both literally and figuretively, Shaquille O’Neal, as well as the King, Lebron James. N.E.R.D.’s Pharrell brought Lebron on stage during their set and while Pharrell might have ditched his Nike’s for some New Balance shoes, Lebron was spotted in a pair of the recently launched Nike x NITRO MICROPHONE UNDERGROUND Air Force 1 High Premium’s. via BBC/Ice Cream Blog
