Wale’s name is always mentioned when discussing celebrity sneakerheads, even by other celebrities. In fact, last week, Wale’s name came up when NBA baller Jarrett Jack talked about kicks, and he claimed to have a better collection than the DMV-based rapper. While any sort of competition hasn’t risen, Wale has continued to show off his best kicks – in this case, the Air Jordan IV ‘Doernbecher’ that dropped earlier this month. He wore them during a performance in mid-November for The Daily Habit on FuelTV. Check out the video as well as some stills of Wale wearing his kicks after the jump.

Kryptonate and Superman? For one night, the two opposing forces took the night off as Nate Robinson rocked the Superman-inspired Air Jordan IV ‘Doernbecher’ during the Rip City Basketball Classic Charity Game. The event, arranged and hosted by Portland Trail Blazers’ forward LaMarcus Aldridge, is just the latest in the ‘unofficial season’ of exhibition games, which have been featuring the league’s biggest stars and fan draws. The Air Jordan IV ‘Doernbecher’ instantly sold out online and at retail spots that carried them, but it appears ‘ol boy Nate was able to secure himself a pair. Did you miss out on yours? The eighth installment of Nike’s partnership with the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital was unveiled in early October; six children were selected to design six different Nike footwear models – one of which was the Air Jordan IV Retro. Chosen for this marquee project was 11-year-old Isaiah Scott, who transferred his ‘Superman’ persona onto the design of the Air Jordan IV. This video goes in detail behind Isaiah’s design, which is also inspired by Nate Robinson’s insane dunk over Dwight Howard during the 2009 NBA Dunk Contest. The Air Jordan IV Doernbecher is set to release this Saturday, November 5th, at select Jordan Brand retailers, so continue reading for the full video to go in detail behind Isaiah’s design inspiration.

One of the more compelling aspects of Michael Jordan’s legendary career is the idea that we too, through hard work, perserverence and sheer force of will, overcome nearly any obsticles on the road to greatness. It’s that kind of inspiration that makes the Air Jordan Legacy a great fit for the annual Nike x Doernbecher Freestyle, which for its eighth go-round chose the Air Jordan IV silhouette as the canvas for one of the special youngsters at the Portland-area childrens hospital for whom the collaboration is named. Isaiah Scott turned the Air Jordan IV ‘Doernbecher’ into one of the most audacious colorways this four-decade-spanning silo has ever seen, a black-based superhero color scheme that like last year’s Air Jordan III DBs, utilizes a whimsical laser-etched pattern to give it that final push. These’ll be hitting select Jordan Brand retailers on Saturday, November 5th, so click through to see some crisp new images and stick with Sneaker News for word on their availability.

Wednesday, November 5th is the scheduled release date for the Nike x Doernbecher Freestyle VIII, and while each of these special collaborations is visually impressive in its own right, it’s clear that one of them is getting a bunch of extra attention relative to the others. In fact, each year’s Doernbecher Childrens Hospital collaboration is highlighted by a Jumpman, in this case the Air Jordan IV DB designed by Isaiah Scott. They’re instantly right up there with the craziest Fours we’ve seen thanks to laser etched arrows, a Superman tongue tag and Isaiah’s own silhouette in lieu of a Mars Blackmon insignia. Check out a new round of close-ups after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for more on the upcoming Air Jordan IV Retros. via kicks-lab

Yesterday morning, Sneaker News unveiled the Nike x Doernbecher Freestyle VIII, which featured six Nike models colorized by six young patients at the Doernbecher Charity Hospital. The mission statement of Nike’s long-standing partnership with the hospital is to raise funds for the charity by releasing the limited edition set of sneakers, and with the public anointing of the Air Jordan installment of each collection, Isaiah Scott’s Air Jordan IV design was the the most anticipated of the bunch. Here we have a detailed look at Scott’s design; inspired by the comic-book superhero Superman, Isaiah chose the famous chest logo for the tongue and included a Mars-like silhouette of himself on the upper ankle. The release date for the Air Jordan IV Doernbecher as well as the entire Doernbecher Freestyle VIII collection is currently set at November 5th, 2011, with a retail price of $175.
