DERRICK ROSE Derrick Rose is an NBA player for the Chicago Bulls, a three time NBA All-Star, the 2009 Rookie of the Year and the 2011 MVP. Rose is an adidas athlete, having signed what was at the time the second largest sneaker endorsement deal in history with the brand and also providing a huge boost to the adidas Basketball lineup through the launch of the adidas adiZero Crazy Light.

adidas Basketball was stuck in quite the sticky juncture at the release of the adidas Rose 3; the shoes were by far the most impressive Rose signatures to date, but with the star player missing the entire season with a knee injury, the shoe never really picked up any steam due to the lack of on-the-court sightings. Seeing the shoes on the feet of the superstar is by far one of the most powerful marketing tools for a signature basketball shoe, but no presence along with a competitive price-tag of $160 resulted in under-performance at retail, but things should change when Derrick gets back on the court. By then, he’ll probably be wearing the adidas Rose 4, for which a sample in a grey/black and red/black is previewed here; it features a similar silhouette as the Rose 3 and appears to use lux materials (pointing to another high MSRP), with stylized perforations, a pronounced heel-counter, and sleek midsole giving the shoe that grown-up appeal. Last week, Derrick Rose was quoted saying that he would return to the NBA court on the following Monday game against the Denver Nuggets. The sports media and fan reaction was instant, and most wondered if “The Return” was happening sooner than expected. What we do know is the Chicago Bulls franchise has been incredibly cautious regarding the health of its star player, and if Rose ever returns, he should do so with complete confidence. Rose has been warming up and practicing with his fellow Bulls this past week, but during yesterday’s warm-up prior to tip-off against Denver, Rose was spotted wearing this minty-green colorway of the adidas Rose 3.5 “St. Patrick’s Day”. We’ll keep you updated regarding a release, so stay tuned and get ready for Rose to return to the NBA court soon.

Will Derrick Rose ever fully recapture the greatness he displayed in earning the NBA MVP award at an age younger than any previous recipient? D-Rose is still rehabbing a catastrophic knee injury suffered during the opening game of last season’s playoffs, but adidas continues the rollout of his third signature as a reminder that even if Chicago’s 1 isn’t on the court come opening day, the Bulls are still a threat the second he returns. The adidas Rose 3 ‘Alternate Away’ reads like a traditional Bulls road getup, but even with a colorway matching some of Michael Jordan’s most famous, it’s just a bit off until Derrick himself rocks them on court. You’ll have your chance first, with a Thursday, November 1st release at adidas Sports Performance locations in Chi-town and New York, plus the adidas Basketball e-store, and you can see more images below in the meantime.

In the context of Bulls point guard Derrick Rose, and especially in Chicago, any mention of a ‘nightmare’ will have you hearing Kevin Harlan’s ‘dagger’ of a call that signaled the fall of the Eastern Conference’s #1 seed and their great young leader. D-Rose’s knee is getting stronger as we’ve seen from Three Stripes ongoing support and they’ll keep it up by issuing themed colorways even before he can get back on the court. The adidas Rose 3 ’Nightmare Before Christmas’ puts a playful spin on a morbid theme, applying a color scheme inspired by the poster art for Tim Burton‘s breakthrough animated film, plus sublimated graphics across the upper. They’ve got ’12-24-12′ embroidery on the inner tongue (which is actually an off day as the Bulls get ready to host Houston on Christmas Day) in reference to the movie’s setting and the release date; will you grab these purple Rose 3s even with all the other Christmastime releases (including one Bulls release that’s among the year’s biggest)? Recently Sneaker News gave you a look at three upcoming colorways of Derrick Rose’s mid-season transitional signature model – the adidas 3.5. Although the latest reports state that Rose could miss the entire campaign (better safe than sorry), the Rose 3.5 is still likely scheduled to release in 2013, and as these detailed images roll in, we can see the wilder design compared to luxurious, lifestyle-embodying structure of the adidas Rose 3. The standout feature is clearly the distorted grid pattern at the toe that forms a unique diamond grate pattern as well as the concentric organization of the diamond cut-outs on the upper. We’re going to have to wait a just a little bit for the crazy colorways of the adidas Rose 3.5 to catch up to the series of Chicago-inspired designs of the adidas Rose 3, so why not start with some base Bulls-centric colorways? This detailed gallery of the Black/Red colorway of the adidas Rose 3.5 gives the wild and noisy upper a nice tonal subdued nature, but the detailed diamond cut-outs still shine through on the lightweight upper. Add in the perfect placement of the adidas Rose logo and you have the perfect pairing of luxury and sport. More of the ‘Bred’ colorway of the adidas Rose 3.5 is right ahead, so take a look and let’s hear your opinions on the level of success the Rose 3 can achieve with the player himself sitting out for the entire season.
