We’re in the middle of trying to whittle down a field of 32 Nike LeBron sneakers to a single greatest pair in the line via our Sneaker News LeBron Madness bracket. The Nike LeBron 9 Elite was a sneaker that was way more prolific in the sample realm than it was in the retail one. Amongst those never released pairs, this colorway remains one of the more puzzling. The sneakers feature a South Beach looking colorway and some detailing that points to LeBron’s capturing of the MVP award that year. The latter has some making a “Statue of Liberty” connection thanks to the metallic detailing in place, but we’ve got a feeling that’s just a coincidence. See a full set of angles on the pink-liner version of the shoes and then check out the rare chance to own these samples from kixrx on eBay.

nike basketball christmas shoes Nike Basketball Signatures of Christmas Past

The tradition of special Christmas colorways for signature sneakers is one of the longer running ones with respect to Nike Basketball. That day has consistently been an important one for footwear enthusiasts thanks to the countless energy colorways and the occasional brand new model debuted during the Christmas day games. The theme has, out of necessity, evolved over the years beyond the standard red, white, and green. Just take a look at this year’s shoes for example; you’ve got the LeBron 11 featuring a snowflake decal, the KD 6 with Fair Isle sweater style graphics, and a Kobe 8 with scales practically jumping off the body of the shoe. The Christmas sigs by Nike have evolved from much simpler forms of previous years, and we can only expect the Swoosh to get even more festive in coming years.

We’re almost at the finish line for the 11 Days of Nike LeBron. Today’s sneaker is one that played a pivotal role in the LeBron James story. The Nike LeBron 9 will forever hold a special spot in footwear history as the sneaker that carried King James to the promised land for the first time. He had flirted with greatness plenty of times before, but it was during his second season with the Miami heat, this shoe on feet, that he would finally achieve that ultimate goal in the NBA. This new plateaux of play was represented in the futuristic build of the Nike LeBron 9. The leather materials that had so long been a mainstay of basketball sneakers were tossed out in favor of Hyperfuse paneling and Flywire supports-choices that sort of signified a new era in basketball sneaker design.
