The New York Knicks palette is one that has been seen a limitless number of times in the sneaker game, albeit with the majority of the instances falling in the Swoosh category, with adidas and even the Ewing line also putting their two cents in previously. One brand that hasn’t had its hands on the orange and royal at any point in recent memory is Asics. Frequent collaborator Ronnie Fieg looked to fix things with the sample, an awesome Knicks colored pair that is a 1 of 1 for the time being. Would you scoop up a pair of the Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel Saga “Knicks” (which actually popped up around a year ago as a teaser) if they made their way into KITH spots at some point in the future? Ronnie Fieg‘s last collaborative release was with the likes of another storied running brand, with him and his Kith team now getting back in bed with the imprint they’ve been most prolific with over the years: Asics. The silhouette selected is another Asics Gel Saga, apparently set to be known as the “Neptune”. Colorway-wise the pair lands somewhere in between his ‘Cove’ classics and his darker ‘Navy Aqua’ pair of Asics Gel Lyte III’s. Amsterdam’s Filling Pieces was established in 2009 to fulfill founder Guillaume Philibert’s vision of a common ground between haute couture and streetwear. He’s doing this at just the right time as so many elements of mainstream western culture converge with dignified elegance as a key theme, and now the brand will team up with an American designer who’s managed to carve out his own premium street niche quite nicely. The Ronnie Fieg x Filling Pieces ‘July 4th Capsule’ has the Kith frontman working in familiar territory with solid-colored designs crafted in premium soft suede. The Filling Pieces Low Top adds a grey contrast to red and blue pairs’ heels for a bit more balance, and both of them will be available at the Manhattan and Brooklyn Kith storefronts on Independence Day. Click through to see more angles, and look for these to hit Kith tomorrow, July 3rd, just in time for the festivities.

If you’ve been following Ronnie Fieg’s output over the past couple of years you’re no doubt acclimated to the one and done nature of his sneaker collaborations. Breaking that spell is his latest the Ronnie Fieg x New Balance 999 ‘Steel Blue’, a sneaker named for its homage to the immortal New Balance 1300 colorway of the same name. For starters there was a ‘Kithstrike’ release before the official date, with pairs randomly popping up at the KITH webshop and selling out in a matter of minutes. Then there was the release last weekend that had folks lining up at KITH locations and camping out online. And now to finish things off and spread the sneakers out to the world at large is this weekend’s global drop, with pairs popping up at a handful of select NB spots as of Saturday, June 30th. Click through to check out the New Balance 999 ‘Steel Blue’ as well as the list of locations where they can be had, including well-known purveyors of the 999 CNCPTS, and also remember there are plenty to be had right now up on eBay.

Though its name and general style was borrowed from an all time classic, Ronnie Fieg‘s New Balance 999 ‘Steel Blue’ isn’t an exact copy of the legendary 1300 by that same moniker. In fact, it took six different revisions before RF’s latest NB collaboration was ready for retailers, everything from material selection and distribution to which parts of the branding will make the most impact. Given that we rarely see samples with more than one (set of) serious revision(s) for any particular sneaker design, it’s especially interesting to see the stages this one went through in order to get ready for its Friday, June 15th release date. Click through to see the entire process, let us know how these compare to Ronnie Fieg’s best collabo kicks and stick with Sneaker News for updates.
