Nike already gave a nod to the city of Houston back in February with a sizzurp-dripping Vandal High model that was part of their “For the Love of the City” pack. Well, apparently the folks at Nike still had more love to give to the city and will now honor a different long-standing Houston tradition with the “Space City” Big Nike Low. The shoe is a tribute to the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center which is the home of the Mission Control Center, astronaut training facilities and several other programs that we don’t have the security clearance to mention at this time.
The “Space City” Big Nike Low features a silver upper with a tarnished metallic heel panel and a navy blue patent leather Swoosh. Also of note are the planetary ring Nike logo on the heel and the speckled outsole that resembles an infinite galaxy loaded with those stars that we hear are so big and bright at night deep in the heart of Texas. These will be released as a House of Hoops exclusive on June 19th. Via FootLockerUnlocked.
