Around 2006, just before Sneaker News hit the intrawebs, Nike’s Sport Culture division released two pairs of Court Force Lows with monochromatic canvas uppers contrasted by what you could see of a multicolored ‘melted crayon’ outsole. In the four years plus since those drops, streetwear has been turned on its ear, or rather, pulled by that ear towards a subtler, more ‘mature’ lean. Interesting, then, to see how well the same monochromatic upper/rainbow sole combo works on these new Nike WMNS Dunk Lows. It’s as if the bottoms of these grey, vivid pink, and purple patent leather pairs offer a reminder that we don’t always want to dress in eleventy-billion shades of grey and black, but they manage to do it without violating your need to look fresh.
