The adidas Rod Laver is known as being one of the most famous shoes from The Brand with the Three Stripes, perhaps the most popular one that doesn’t actually have any Stripes of its own. From this foundation of subtly applied branding, there’s nowhere to fit a ‘McNasty’ gold leaf, so this pair of Mark McNairy x adidas Rod Lavers from the 84-Lab collection keeps its personalized touches to the tongue and heel. This is otherwise a classic take on the Laver lowtop, save the use of yellow in place of green as with the OG edition. It’s a subtle change yet one that almost certainly wouldn’t have been tolerated by the officials whose traditions essentially forced the original colorway to look as it did, and that’s the kind of subtle brilliance that makes these new McNairy adidas a must have from shops like Oneness.
