Kicksology.net Returns Ten Years Later

Kicksology Returns

Before the age of social media, blogs, and YouTube, the digital sneaker world was comprised of three destinations – Niketalk, ISS forums, and Kicksology.net. The first two were, of course, community forums in which users could discuss sneaker releases, surprise finds, leaked photos (Anyone remember the Air Jordan XVI sketches popping up on NT?), but Kicksology was a beast of its own. The site was run by Ernest Kim aka Professor K., who provided the most thorough breakdowns of basketball shoes; it was the go-to source for basketball sneaker reviews, crisp photos of said shoes (those bland yet signature white background snaps were allegedly taken in his bathroom), and generally a place to kill loads of time while learning more about basketball design and performance through the eyes of a well-versed individual.

Kicksology shut down in 2004, taking its entire database of hoop shoe literature with it, but a few days ago Professor K (who’s been working at Nike for a minute) announced that it would be revived to some degree. Don’t expect new reviews (he’s leaving that to the new wave of experts), but rather the occasional bringback of an OG article in conjunction with a recent Retro, his other sneaker-related and unrelated thoughts, and much more from one of the most influential minds in the sneaker game. For the younger members in the sneaker community, consider this a real treat. For the older ones, yes – it’s been a full decade since Kicksology closed down. Keep your eye on Kicksology.net (he just republished his first Air Flightposite review from 2000), and let us know what you think of this “comeback”!
