Jordan Brand is incredibly well-aware of its history. When centered around the greatest basketball player to ever lace up a pair of signatures, the Jumpman is constantly searching for ways to tell new stories instead of just re-releasing old classics. So in 2015, currently celebrating 30 years of the legend of Michael Jordan, it shouldn’t come as a big surprise that the brand is delving into seemingly random and insignificant events to give us something new. That’s how the Air Jordan 1 “Shattered Backboard” came into existence.
In the summer of 1986, MJ took his talents to Italy for an exhibition game in which he shattered a backboard during an acrobatic slam. Based on the vibrant uniforms worn during the game, this Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG dons a Black Toe look, swapping out the traditional Chicago red accents for orange. The shoe even harkens back to the original releases by coming unlaced just incase you want to swap in a pair of white laces. Check out more of Jordan Brand’s latest take on the classic Air Jordan 1 below and let us know if you plan on picking up this pair by taking your thoughts to the comments section.
