The collection begins by re-imagining two of the brand’s most celebrated models, the GEL-Lyte III and the GEL-Kayano Trainer, each blending classic heritage with an updated aesthetic. Now that the debut EVO models have launched, we’re taking a deeper look at the head-turning sneakers by breaking down some of their key details. GEL-Lyte EVO NT
No Split Tongue The boldest departure from the GEL-Lyte III on the new EVO update is the use of a standard tongue instead of the original’s iconic spilt tongue. Although as you can see, no style is sacrificed for the bold look of the GEL-Lyte EVO NT with it’s “new tongue”. 
Seamless Paneled Upper The EVO Line’s defining characteristic is the stripping away of each original shoe’s stitched and layered upper for a sleek, weight-reducing seamless mesh build. Making sure to retain the recognizable origins of each shoe, the mesh is infused with bonded TPU paneling to create the original GEL-Lyte III’s lines. 
New Outsole With Visible Gel Another big update on the GEL-Lyte EVO NT is a brand-new sole unit. The EVO edition updates the GEL-Lyte III’s sole by stripping back some of the original’s rubber in favor of more foam for weight reduction and comfort. Taking a cue from many of the brand’s current performance running models, you’ll also find visible GEL cushioning in the heel of the GEL-Lyte EVO NT. GEL-Kayano Trainer EVO 
One-Piece Mesh Upper With a somewhat less drastic redesign than the GEL-Lyte EVO NT, the updated Kayano Trainer’s biggest change is the one-piece mesh upper. While the silhouette stays about the same as the original, the new EVO construction offers a sleeker and more streamlined approach to the classic design. 
Fused ASICS Stripe Logos The GEL-Kayano Trainer EVO discards the original’s TPU support “cage” created by the side stripes in favor of bonded TPU paneling. However, the stitched-on heel counter from the original design remains. 
Original Components Remain Unlike the GEL-Lyte EVO NT, the Kayano’s EVO update sticks with the original tooling, showing that even though it was designed in 1993, it still works perfectly for the modernized sneaker. It also keeps the original’s neoprene inner bootie.
