New Balance athlete Jenny Simpson, who ran the 1500m in Beijing earlier today, lost her left shoe with around 600m to go and valiantly finished the race with one foot completely bare to the track. According to reports by USA Today, the athlete appeared to kick the shoes after another runner accidentally clipped her heel (the New Balance MD800v3). What makes this strange event even better is that New Balance, just moments before the race, tweeted that “@trackyjenny will leave everything on the track in her upcoming #Beijing2015 1500m final”, and clearly their star running athlete obliged and fulfilled that promise. Check out photos of Simpson during her “one-legged” race below as well as New Balance’s original tweet below.

Hats off to @trackjenny, who finished that race without her left shoe. Looks like it flew off with about 300m to go. pic.twitter.com/CiLGkDh3Ij
