Whether or not the black/red Air Jordan 1 was the “banned” shoe by the NBA or not still remains as an unresolved mystery, but it’s pretty much accepted that it was indeed the AJ1 that got the boot (and Jordan Brand is sticking to that story). It doesn’t really matter anymore, because the daring and aggressive combination of black and red is not the signature for the GOAT and his sneakers, and it just returned on the Mid variation of the shoe that started it all – the Air Jordan 1.
