Nike recently paid homage to China’s lunar endeavors with a four-shoe “Space Capsule” assemblage that debuted exclusively in Shanghai, and now ahead of the collection’s scheduled Greater China release date, we’ve been given an official look at what may be its most standout design: the fiery Air Max 720. These jet-fueled lifestyle kicks feature a red-hot, highly detailed flame print that smolders its way up from the toebox to the middle of the throat, a likely nod to the ignition of a spacecraft’s powerful engines at liftoff. The rest of the upper is dressed in a simple-yet effective textured black mesh, while further aeronautical accents are provided by flight-ready badges on the tongue and a printed heel tab. The insoles offer a clever wooly color scheme, providing “insulation” against the scorching temperatures present on the shoe’s outer half. A blue sockliner then contrasts with the semi-translucent 720-degree cushioning unit to complete the look. They’ll release across China on September 1st for $180, so enjoy a full set of official images below, and when you’re done be sure to check out our Sneaker Release Dates page for even more Air Max news.
