adidas Basketball Introduces James Harden’s New Harden Vol. 4

Unique. Versatile. Relentless. Those words can all be used to describe 2018 NBA MVP and five-time All-NBA First Teamer James Harden, and they also apply to his newest signature shoe, the adidas Harden Vol. 4. A stark departure from previous adidas Harden models, these new hoop shoes take The Beard’s line in a bold new direction, just as the Rockets are set to strike out on a new path on the court after sending Chris Paul to the Thunder and acquiring Harden’s good friend Russell Westbrook to take his place. With a low-cut yet sturdy upper, Harden’s latest adidas shoes present a look that mixes performance and style in equal measures. Gone is the standard Boost cushioning, replaced instead by adidas’s new Lightstrike system for a perfect mix of cushioning and responsiveness. The cut may be low, but the stability is high, thanks to a plush padded heel, midfoot band, and knit tongue for lockdown and support.

Aside from all this high-end tech, there’s plenty of looks to be had here as well. With the semi-circle style eyelet piece and multiple suede overlays, the Harden Vol. 4 offers a vibe that’s slightly reminiscent of Pharrell’s lifestyle-geared Trefoil Brand collaborations. Each colorway also tells a unique story, from the brightly-accented “Barbershop” makeup to a refreshing “Pink Lemonade” and a classic “Cookies And Cream.” The line will begin its rollout on October 12th with the aforementioned “Barbershop,” then release the “Pink Lemonade” on October 26th, “Candy Paint” on October 31st, and “Cookies & Cream” on November 15th, all on adidas.com and at select stockists. The retail price is set at $130 USD. The Beard will also sport a friends-and-family pair designed in partnership with Daniel Patrick, a precursor to a full Patrick/adidas apparel and footwear collection in early 2020.
