Jovani Hernandez Nike is scheduled to bring some of its winter heat into 2020 as it recently shared images of the Air Max Plus in a forthcoming cool blue and orange colorway. Perhaps an homage to its arguably most recognizable gradient outfits, this iteration is almost entirely taken over by an icy hue that differs in shade and material throughout the ’98 model. Although the iconic combination of mesh upper and plastic overlays don an almost identical blue, the color appears lighter – almost grey – on the tongue, heel panel, and midsole. Hot orange accents the Nike branding at the midfoot and tongue, but also animates the visible Tuned Air unit at the heel.
Releases of the Air Max Plus were not necessarily scarce this year, but they were not on the level of other Air Max silhouettes. Nevertheless, this colorway – likely to hit Nike.com and select retailers in the first half of 2020 – is a compelling take on the cultural icon.
