Michael Le Held in high regard by the brand themselves, the Vapormax 2020 — even by Space Hippie standards — is to this day one of the most sustainable among the newer Nike releases. And while its threads and various components owe recycled materials and trash for their existence, the color palettes and quality of construction seem to lose nothing in the process. Rather, it further adds to a currently popular aesthetic as various hits of color and treatments simply make the details far more interesting. Here, on the silhouette’s clean “Summit White” offering, a grey knit wraps the entire foot with little to no embedded scraps; Swooshes stitch atop in the titular white, matching that of the strap just behind, the pulls at the collar, and the thin wire that fastens alongside the newly implemented FlyEase system. Elsewhere, the tooling is treated at its bottom with a mix of different pieces while the toe cap, heel counter, and tongue make use of the pre-existing to create louder mosaics of pastels.
