Before Dior, Prada, Louis Vuitton, and Balenciaga championed sneaker luxury, Nike was doing quite a bit of the heavy lifting with their early designs. In the case of the Air Metal Max, the brand began to pay homage to the rock n’ roll era with all the comforts they’ve since become known for.
Currently available once again, the silhouette has just surfaced in a clean white and Volt colorway. Unlike the brash reds used atop its last showing, the scheme is heavily understated as much of its leather construction is doused in the achromatic shade. The sole, mesh tongue, lace unit, and back tab all follow suit, while the Air units and branding contrast in their use of the neon green.
Paired with reflective accents at the side as per usual, the model can be had right now for $140 USD at Nike.com.
For something a little more “expressive,” take a look at the newly unveiled Air Max 97 Kaomoji.
