Michael Le Come June 1st, the New Balance KAWHI will make its most personal appearance yet, honoring Kawhi Leonard‘s home town of Moreno Valley.
In every facet, the offering celebrates the city itself — especially its official seal. The stamp even dresses the tongue unchanged, featuring everything from its curved text to its sunny, sandy beaches. And elsewhere, though not quite as overt, the colorway mirrors the graphic’s every detail. Deep, aqua blues remind of the water, the yellow mesh accents adjacent celebrate the sand itself, and the brown, textured mid-panel rounds off in nod to the mountain-replete backdrop.
Alongside the release of the shoe, Kawhi, New Balance, and the NBA 2K foundation will donate a basketball court and playground to Moreno Valley’s Weston Park.
