Over the past three years, social media feeds everywhere have been overtaken by droves of new sneakers touched up (down?) to appear as though they’ve been worn to the brink of near-retirement. Brands across the globe have begun to notice consumer interest in these “Neo-vintage” pairs, and have prepped their own propositions. Case in point: the PUMA Suede VTG “The Never Worn” offering.
As the model’s name suggests, the sneaker arrives in mint-condition despite boasting design cues borrowed from used, aged footwear. The silhouette’s iconic hairy suede construction throughout the upper indulges in a faintly-faded color palette, with black and white further nodding to the past. Sole units underfoot, however, deliver the most obvious dose of nostalgia as they are not only clad in a yellow tone, but also feature “wear-and-tear” across the midsole. Countless netizens have expressed their distaste for purposely-“worn-out” releases, but they may appreciate PUMA‘s attempt.
Enjoy images of the pair here below, and anticipate select shops to drop the shoes on December 4th.
