Fresh off the release of its “Pistachio”-colored Nike Dunk Low “Passport Pack,” Union Los Angeles has indirectly shared the first look at one of the Nike Cortez projects it’s releasing before the end of 2022.
While little has been revealed about Chris Gibbs and team’s reinterpretation of the classic Nike Running silhouette, the upcoming pair delivers one of the most significant updates to the 50-year-old design. Canvas and suede construction comes together across the shoes’ upper, with the former material making up much of the base layer. Panel layout throughout the Cortez differs from standard pairs, allowing for the grey, yellow, pink and blue color palette employed by the LA-based boutique to leave its mark in a refreshing way. “UN/LA” tabs land on the vamp’s lateral side, while an additional overlay appears on the upper heel; lower heel areas are reinforced with a patterned rubber (as if the toe), while the famous serrated sole unit replaced standard foam for what seems to be Nike’s up-cycled Crater Foam.
Enjoy an early look at the pair ahead, courtesy of Instagram user @apolloluo1976, and anticipate a Nike SNKRS launch as summer inches closer.
Elsewhere under the NIKE, Inc. umbrella, the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star CX FlyEase debuts soon.
