Although Converse is best known for some of its basketball-shoes-turned-lifestyle stapes, the Boston-based brand has recently been experimenting with new shapes, materials and styles. Case in point: the Converse Aeon Active CX.
Cushioned with Converse’s CX comfort technology, the upcoming pair is seemingly from the future. The exaggerated midsole solution plays a complimentary role to the mesh and leather upper, which is covered in a mix of grey tones. The upper’s elastic stretch bootie works in-tandem with an exaggerated heel kick and TPU heel wedge to deliver seamless on and off functionality similar to the Nike Go FlyEase. Pink and purple hues enter the mix via the Chevron logo at the lateral profile and molded support structure at the heel, respectively. Running sneaker-informed tread underfoot further indulges in varying shades of grey, rounding out the pair’s mostly drab look.
A stateside Converse.com release date hasn’t been disclosed, but the pair is set to launch in Europe on Tuesday, June 14th. In the meantime, enjoy product shots of the pair ahead.
Elsewhere under the NIKE, Inc. umbrella, the Air Jordan 1 is set to drop in more colorways before 2022 ends.
UPDATE June 9th, 2022:
An earlier version of this post incorrectly referred to the foam solution found in the Converse Aeon Active CX as “Nike React.” The shoe actually features Converse’s CX comfort technology.
