Ahead of the Tokyo Olympics, NIKE, Inc. has put together a footwear and apparel collection inspired by and commemorating the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field.
Also known as “TrackTown, USA,” the Eugene, Ore.-located field has been a crucial part of Nike’s history. The U.S. Track and Field Trials were held at the University of Oregon’s storied locale in 1972, an event during which Steve Prefontaine left an impression on Bill Bowerman, Phil Knight and the American track and field space. The delayed 2020 Trials will take place at the newly-renovated Hayward Field, and serve as the U.S. Track and Field team’s selection process for the Olympic Games.
For the collection, the Nike React Infinity Run 2 and Nike ZoomX NEXT% 2 indulge in a color palette inspired by the Pacific Northwest. Hits of gold and green are informed by the lush landscape surrounding “TrackTown, USA”; accompanying t-shirts and hoodies feature a number of graphics nodding to the Swoosh’s Blue Ribbon Sports origins, the state of Oregon and running.
Enjoy imagery of the collection here below, and anticipate items to hit Nike.com soon. The complete schedule for the U.S. Track and Field Trials can be found here.
Elsewhere under the NIKE, Inc. umbrella, the fragment x Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 High is anticipated to launch on July 29th.
