In the first two months of 2022, the Nike Air Max 90 has emerged in handfuls of styles despite not celebrating a milestone anniversary of its own. And while it’s been employed by the Swoosh to commemorate 35 years of Air Max technology via the “XXXV” collection, Tinker Hatfield’s 32-year-old design is also donning fresh, in-line ensembles. Case in point?: A kid’s-exclusive “White/Salmon” outfit complete with rainbow graphics on the tongue.
Presumably part of a larger Nike Sportswear collection, the newly-surfaced pair delivers a stripped-back arrangement perfect for the year’s warmer days. The synthetic leather that covers much of the upper opts for a “colorless” look that allows for complementary tones to revel in the spotlight. Suede profile swooshes interrupt the “White” ensemble with their light grey tint, but their statement-making pales in comparison to the pinkish flair that arrives via the mudguards. While yet to be proven, the components’ construction resembles that of “wear-away” propositions of yesteryear, which could mean the Air Max 90 will receive a unique look as its worn. The rainbow graphic on the tongue, then, could allude to the multi-colored finish found underneath the mudguards. Regardless, a different rose hue animates much of the midsole, allowing for the accompanying cassette to maintain a bland aesthetic.
No firm Nike.com release details have been disclosed by the brand, but that’s likely to change as spring inches closer. In the meantime, enjoy official images of the pair ahead.
