As has become customary over the last several years, NIKE, Inc. has recently prepped part of its Be True collection, the series of footwear and apparel inspired by Pride Month. Although handfuls of other silhouettes are likely to release, this June’s celebration will at least include the Nike Cortez.
While certainly different from the model’s debut colorway, which launched 50 years ago, the upcoming pair doesn’t take such an experimental approach as sacai‘s 4.0 proposition does. Instead, textile and fabric come together across a “Bone”-covered upper, setting the stage for the multi-colored, embroidered profile swooshes. “BETRUE”-branding on the tongue label and sock-liner forgo the 3D-reminiscent style (though “NIKE” text at the spine don’t), but still indulge in a medley of colors directly obtained from the rainbow embraced by the LGBTQIA+ community. Serrated sole units underfoot mostly revel in the off-white color that appears up-top, but contrasting details around the rear-half of the midsole get a colorful makeover.
Enjoy official images of the shoes in Preschool and Toddler sizes ahead, and anticipate the pair to release on Nike.com in adult sizes, too, once June rolls around.
Elsewhere under the NIKE, Inc. umbrella, the Air Jordan 4 “Military Black” is scheduled to drop for the whole family on Saturday, May 21st.
