Multiple silhouettes have helped catapult New Balance into the mainstream of streetwear over the past few years. Remastered classics with roots tied to the hardwood have quickly shifted to the forefront of its heralded lifestyle lineup with the late 80’s staple of the New Balance 550 recently receiving a simple ensemble of the grey scale spectrum.
Perforated white leathers in tandem with matching stitching takes hold of a majority of the models real estate centered in the forefoot alongside black accents gracing the “N” logo and quarter trim for an emboldened upper. The latter half of the sneaker opts for an aged aesthetic with a cream colored nylon construction bearing the tongue and foxing beneath smoke grey overlays and a lighter-hued heel counter. Underfoot, a faded white midsole presides above the sectioned tread split into the two-tone grey arrangement for a tasteful conclusion to the straightforward rendition.
Enjoy a first look at the New Balance 550 “Salt and Pepper” below while we anticipate further release details being made available by the brand relatively soon.
For more from the Boston-based brand, the “Protection Pack” series is receiving another installment with a treatment of “Mauve” filling the exposed panels of the New Balance 2002R.
