Nike’s cross-training category of the late 1980s spilled into the earlier part of the following decade spawning a series of unforgettable footwear options connected to once-in-a-generation athletes such as Bo Jackson. With that history in place, it’s been easy for Nike to go back to the well and strum nostalgic notes with its retros, so the intent is quite clear with this upcoming Air Cross Trainer 3 Low.
Re-issued for the first time ever in 2020, the Air Cross Trainer 3 Low has quietly filled store shelves with modern colorway formulas. This upcoming release, however, seems to be a clear and obvious nod to the “Citron” colorway of the Air Trainer SC 2 as the upper utilizes hints of that muted volt yellow, the refreshing teal green, and the soothing grey-on-white base.
These only bring to light the need for Nike to bring back the Air Trainer SC 2. It’s been nearly a decade since that model was part of the product line, whereas the actual OG colorways were last dropped in 2011. Let’s bring them back! If you’re into the Cross Trainer 3 Low, expect these soon on Nike.com for $125.
