From April Skateboards and Crenshaw Skate Club to Born X Raised and TIGHTBOOTH, Nike’s SB banner has routinely shown a global spotlight on the heart of the skateboarding community. Packing an equally explosive punch outside its collaborative installments, the latest silhouette from Nike SB serves as the backbone of its latest crop of skating solutions.
Joining the Nyjah 3 and SB Leo Baker as the latest constructions from the Beaverton brand, the SB Vertebrae employs a rubber cupsole providing a more supportive feel across the footbed – a preferred construction for some skaters as opposed to the vulcanized treatment of past efforts. Mirroring the veined mid-foot panel that graced the Nike Air Max Moto back in 2002, the latter’s textile panel amplifies the human anatomy inspiration with a rib cage-like detailing.
Deriving a mesh and suede detailing, the latter fills the vamp with perforations while the matching heel overlay receives a smooth leather accent at the tongue tab. Thick rope laces accompany the silhouette similar to its SB Dunk Low counterpart while lace loops extending from the heel bring a customizable fit to the surrounding sock liner.
The Nike SB Vertebrae is expected to release in the spring of 2024 for a retail price of $85. While we await further details, the pair can be seen in two inaugural colorways below.
