A welcomed addition at that.

“Chlorophyll” Interrupts This Split “White/Black” Nike Air Max 1

“Chlorophyll” isn’t a color that’s appeared too many times on the Nike Air Max 1, but it’s often associated with Tinker Hatfield’s iconic design thanks to a special collaboration from 2009.

Recently, a split “White/Black” arrangement surfaced on the revolutionary silhouette. Akin to other Nike Sportswear icons, the original Air Max features the lighter tone of the two across its upper. A combination of leather and canvas appears up-top, deviating from Hatfield’s blueprint from 1987. Each panel indulges in slight-variations of the color “White,” allowing for the slightest contrast to revel in the spotlight. Nearby, a rich green hue animates upper eyelets and branding on the tongue, marking another occasion that the Patta-approved “Chlorophyll” appears on the Air Max 1.

Below, signature mudguards abandons their traditional suede build in favor of a textured leather. Industry-changing sole units underfoot reprise their tried-and-proven look, but opt for a pitch-“Black” finish. Similar “split” makeovers have also landed on other 1980s designs from the Swoosh over the last year, and are likely to continue appearing throughout 2024. Lastly, the waffle-patterned outsole features a light speckling that confirms the outsole has been produced using up-cycled, Nike Grind material.

Enjoy official photos of the pair ahead. A firm nike.com launch date hasn’t been disclosed by the brand as of this writing, but that’s likely to change as next spring inches closer. The Air Max 1 is priced between $140 and $160 USD.
