The New Balance 990v6 is set to close out an important year for the brand in a season-appropriate “Sepia/Orange” color scheme.
Made in USA, the New England institution’s latest 990-series silhouette delivers a refreshing take on heritage. Its upper is unmistakably rooted in the same design principles born with the New Balance 990 in 1982, but the sole unit is firmly rooted in the modern era. FuelCell-cushioning places the NB 990v6 alongside the brand’s marquee performance running models (the fairly-novel New Balance 991v2 indulges in a similar update). Although the design has appeared in classic grey, black, and navy ensembles, the shoe has also taken on more experimental looks courtesy of Aimé Leon Dore‘s Teddy Santis. Pastels embraced the sneaker throughout spring and summer, setting the stage for darker tones more appropriate of autumn and winter. Santis’ latest makeover for the NB 990v6 sees a compelling combination of “Sepia” and “Orange” divvy up real estate across the premium offering. “Black” contrast enters the mix via profile “N” logos, inner-lining, and parts of the tried-and-proven sole unit underfoot. Together, each component helps expand New Balance’s century-old legacy into the next 100 years,
Enjoy official photos of the pair ahead. The “Sepia” NB 990v6 arrives to newbalance.com on Friday, December 15th, for $220 USD.
