New Balance produces a wide variety of 1906R iterations, labeled with different names to differentiate specific collections and use cases. The 1906U, meaning “utility,” debuted late last year in the “Angora” colorway after much anticipation.
We only have a handful of releases to go off, but it would appear that the key utilitarian treatment on the 1906U is its use of a diamond-grid ripstop base as opposed to mesh, adding durability and weatherproofing function.
In the Boston brand’s latest delivery, the 1906U wears a black/gray colorway with bright yellow accents throughout, fittingly giving off a “construction” vibe hand in hand with the utilitarian design. Given the black/yellow palette, it’s easy to imagine this shoe as a play on similarly colored designs like the Jordan 4 “Thunder” among others.
The upcoming New Balance 1906U has already made its way overseas, but no word has been made public regarding a US release. Enjoy detailed images below and come back to our Sneaker Release Dates page as we continue to learn more.
