For the last half decade, Joshua Vides has been championing a pop art movement that’s launched him into collaborations with everyone from New Balance to Ferrari to Interscope. Returning to the world of footwear some two years after his Vans collection, he’s linking up with A Bathing Ape for a collab Bape Roadsta.
It should come as no surprise that Vides’ trademark cel-shaded style is unadulterated when transposed onto the Bape Roadsta. Characteristically uneven, jet black linework traces the stitching across the whole sneaker, imparting his retro monochrome to the silhouette along the way. Additionally, his permanent marker “carves out” an onlaid tongue and heel tab, the design concluding with a drawn on “Sta” logo at the very back.
The capsule centers around this Bape Roadsta, but certainly isn’t limited to it. An apparel collection will be launching alongside the shoes, featuring shirts, headwear and bags, as well as a set of household accessories ranging from rugs to ashtrays.
The Joshua Vides x Bape collection launches first via his joshuavides.com website March 14th, with a wider launch via Bape channels planned for March 16th. Though Bape Roadstas typically command a $350 retail price, a number for these hasn’t yet been confirmed. Ahead, you’ll find a gallery of all the products included under the Joshua Vides x Bape umbrella.
In another high profile collaboration, photos of the Joe Freshgoods New Balance 1000 ignited speculation about the model’s full-on return.
