While certain corners of the sneakerhead community have considered the “Tn” a classic for years, it seems that the Nike Air Max Plus has finally hit peak popularity. Though the Air Max Plus Drift continues to shine in its own offshoot life, the proper parent model continues to emerge in new colorways to feed this newfound demand. Stopping just short of “Triple Black,” the latest nonetheless pleasantly embraces twilight shading.
Gradients on the mesh upper of the AMP are a calling card by now, and though it isn’t abandoned for this greyscale look, the black-to-white pattern is certainly more subtle at first glance. That monochromatic look is mirrored with black and white hits dominant on the rest of the shoe. Materially, the tongue, heel and extended mudguard section all swap to carbon fiber, or at least clad those TPU sections in a pattern adjacent to it. To keep things from staying too uniform, the regular hits of yellow on the Tn branding are matched by subtle “Racer Blue” on the outsole, mirrored on the Swoosh. All told, this edition of the Air Max Plus means business, but holds onto enough of its usual appeal to make them an easy pair to reach for.
