Easily the biggest story for the Boston brand in the first half of the year, the return of the New Balance 1000 is finally upon us. With the first few colorways released by way of Joe Freshgoods, another frequent collaborator is bringing their talents to the Y2K model with the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 1000 collection. The initial release for the shoe is still ongoing (follow this link for ALD.com draw details), but information about a global launch is now emerging, with the all-white ALD New Balance 1000 coming on June 20th.
In typical Aime Leon Dore fashion, this shoe is an embrace of simplistic and tonal design, essentially draping the whole shoe in off-white and grey neutrals. However, with the JFG and “Silver Metallic” colorways of the New Balance 1000 released so far, that’s a rather groundbreaking choice for this silhouette early in its renewed run. The translucent, wavy side panels are a novel addition as well, a stark departure from the matte and reflective counterparts on those aforementioned editions. As to be expected from this sort of collaborative effort, the shoe’s layout rounds out with some co-branded detailing, spotlighting on the tongue and a retro “Aime” stamp towards the forefoot.
The Aime Leon Dore x New Balance 1000 “White” will be released via New Balance channels on June 20th, retailing for $160. That leaves the grey and black editions as ALD exclusives, so act quick if you want to get in on those pairs’ June 6th debuts.
