Sneaker News Of all things Kanye West has contributed to the world of footwear, his great impact is arguably the overall embrace of slip-ons, slides, and mules. That’s allowed competing brands to stake their own distinct claim, creating a brand new category of footwear that is purely for day-to-day comfort and leisure.
adidas is, of course, responsible for bringing Kanye’s designs to life. The Yeezy Foam Runner and Yeezy Slides are obviously the ones that’ll go down in history, largely because they’ve laid the groundwork for future design. The new adiFOM IIINFINITY Slides may have its roots tied to the Crazy basketball initiative from the late 1990s, but would these have existed without ‘Ye?
Regardless of that argument, adidas has something special with this upcoming closed-toed slide. With some direct ties to the IIINFINITY line, which includes the Crazy IIINFINITY and Mad IIINFINITY lifestyle hoops shoes, the Slides once again bridge the same hoops-inspired aesthetic with a futuristic appeal.
We showed you an all-silver version a few months back as they were featured inside adidas Basketball’s dedicated space during All-Star Weekend, and it’s worth noting that the shoes were labeled as the Crazy IIINFINITY Mule (adidas.com has them as Slides). In any case, this black colorway is dropping on July 1st for just $50.
