Archived models from the late 1990s and early 2000s continue to find new life in today’s modern sneaker ecosystem, and Puma keeps reaching deep into its bag to appease current sneaker trends. On top of the newly revived Puma Speedcat and intense marketing behind the Puma Palermo, the German brand is now set to revisit another one of its racing icons in two original colorways.
First released in 1999, the Puma Mostro (or “Monster” in Italian) draws inspiration from two niches; sprinting spikes and surfing shoes. The model was archived for years before Puma brought it back at the start of 2024, and thus far, we’ve seen Puma leverage new colorways and material compositions to re-introduce the low-top. While those such pairs have been very well received, the Mostro’s revival tour now approaches its biggest milestone to date with the release of two original colorways in Fall 2024.
Depicted here in two separate black-and-white colorways, the model returns to the color and material combinations that defined its first release 25 years ago. Perforated leather spans the upper of each shoe, decorated by Formstrip logos on the lateral sides. Banana-shaped split tongues are fastened by buckles and elastic bands that meet the medial soles, while TPU heel badges host Puma logos on the heels. Underfoot, the soles provides grippy traction by way of cone-shaped rubber, with the forefoot and heel portions opting for a different, more open pattern.
Puma hasn’t floated a firm release date just yet, but pairs are expected to arrive in Fall 2024 for $150. Scroll through detailed images of both options below and tap our Sneaker Release Dates page while we populate all the latest available information.
