While the Opening Ceremony may very well be happening or in the past by the time you catch this, the actually lighting of the torch doesn’t mean that footwear brands are slowing their output centered around the occasion. The latest to join Beaverton’s side of the equation is the Air Max Plus, sporting a rarely-seen all-leather upper and a slight dose of “Ostrich” in the margins.
It may not be the first time that leather has hit the top half of the Tn (the Air Max Plus Tiempo from just a few weeks back and a few others set the precedent), but the material switch-up is impactful all the same for its rarity. Most notable is the bleedover onto the palm tree waves, but the change is comprehensive, taking over the tongue in the process as well.
The nocturnal overhaul keeps up with “Petra Brown” on the midsole. It’s a metered touch, but the “Olympic” concept appears on the mini Swoosh at the midfoot, reflecting the suddenly-inescapable “Ostrich” print we saw on the Nike “Electric Pack” with abstract cut-outs into its TPU construction.
The Nike Air Max Plus “Black Tea” is already available via select European retailers. A stateside/Nike.com drop is expected on August 10th, retailing for $190.
