At the start of Q3, they brought forth one of the more intriguing twists on the Mamba’s line, a new low-cut version of the Crazy 8, beginning to trickle out after a number of collaborative releases.
What better way to continue the mainline introduction than an ode to Bryant’s team? While a first glance at this pair reveals a simplified “Oreo” style arrangement, this veers closer to the Lakers’ home jerseys in truth; flip the shoe over for the purple & gold hits on the outsole to reveal that. Even if you’re not among the LA faithful, the monochrome palette up top makes these a staple sort of shoe, with the patent leather Three Stripes that intersect the body a particularly eye-catching detail.
Although Kobe’s legacy gives these an extra dose of streetwear appeal, this look perfectly taps into the chunky, retro basketball side with its low cut, making lifestyle wear a much easier sell. Given their efforts around models like the Rivalry Low, it aligns well with the Three Stripes hoops strategy we’ve seen all year.
