After unveiling his Ohana Full Bloom Slide earlier this year and dropping very limited quantity through Complex and lending a hand in Nike’s RTFKT projects, Takashi Murakami is now taking the next big step forward with the announcement of his independent footwear brand called Ohana Hatake.
This new venture by the legendary artist is a combination of his signature artistry with traditional Japanese influences, bridged together by innovative design. The aforementioned first drop, the Ohana Full Bloom Slide, is an exemplar of the envelope-pushing vision for this new imprint, although there will be more streamlined, simpler silhouettes in the mix.
As of now, Ohana Hatake is offering casual, slip-on slides. First is the Ohana Full Bloom Slide in limited Apricot and Rasberry Rose colorways; both are available right via raffle on the brand’s official site. The second option is the much calmer Surippa Ohana; this second footwear piece will be dropping in a “Rust” colorway exclusively at ComplexCon 2024 in Las Vegas, where Ohana Hatake will have an IRL space.
After this initial launch, Ohana Hatake footwear will be available at select global retail partners in December, with a wider roll-out confirmed for 2025.
