Was it the shoes? The new Nike VaporFly 4% makes a strong case for itself as the new fastest running shoe on Earth after being worn by 5 out of the top 6 men and women finishers of the 2017 Boston Marathon. Nike runners Geoffrey Kirui, Galen Rupp and Suguru Osako took first, second and third in the men’s elite field, while Edna Kiplagat and Jordan Hasay finished first and third respectively in the women’s race—all while wearing pairs of the VaporFly 4%. The shoe features Nike’s new ZoomX midsole for lightweight and responsive cushioning that’s supported by a full-length carbon plate designed to minimize energy loss during toe bend without increasing work from the calf muscle during your stride. Nike claims the innovative design can make runners up to 4% more efficient than their previous fastest marathon shoe.
The VaporFly 4% will be available at retail on June 8th at select retailers and Nike.com.
