Nike Taps NYC Creative Ferris Bueller To Design Three Inspired Silhouettes On Sneaker-Lab

Sneaker-Lab, a kicks-centric hub of curated goods that release in limited quantity and time, is ready for a new drop. For this quickstrike drop, Nike tapped NYC-based creative Ferris Bueller, a talent scout/ manager who has worked with the likes of Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Kid Cudi, The Clipse, Pusha T, DKNY, No Vacancy Inn, ELLE magazine and more, to design three iconic silhouettes that tell personal stories. His iterations of the Air Force 1 and Air Max 90 include a tribute to the late Prodigy of Mobb Deep, the fictional character Cameron Frye from the film Ferris Bueller, and a bid for Idris Elba as the next James Bond in the legendary franchise. If you’re feeling his designs, you can cop them tomorrow on Sneaker-Lab.

I designed these AF1s with James Bond in mind. I am a huge fan of the films. As a boy I made sure to see every single film. The idea of being a spy has always been a dream. The shoes represent all the actors who embodied Bond and what they represented for me as a kid. “Oh, by the way, we haven’t been properly introduced, Melina. My name is Bond, James Bond.” This is also my petition for Idris Alba to be nominated to be the next James Bond.”

My favorite film by legendary director John Hughes. Even though this is a comedy on the surface, it deals with Cameron who is full of teen angst and in security as opposed to his best friend, Ferris Bueller (the coolest kid in school). Opening scene shows Cameron laying in bed, depressed and sad. Ferris encourages him to get up and get out and live. I designed the sneaker with Cameron in mind and as a homage to friendship and to best friends for life whether you are one and the same or polar opposites. “Ladies and gentlemen, you are such a wonderful crowd, we’d like to play a little tune for you. It’s one of my personal favorites and I’d like to dedicate it to a young man who doesn’t think he’s seen anything good today — Cameron Frye, this one’s for you.”

A tribute to those we have lost along the way. Having lost a good friend and a hero this year I wanted to design a shoe for everyone and anyone who has loved and lost. The white and grey of this AF1 represents one of my favorite photos of Prodigy of Mobb Deep sitting on an ice sculpture throne. The gold Nike Air on back tab represents the halo.
