After early previews dating as far back as January, we finally have more details regarding the COMME des GARÇONS x New Balance 860v2. On top of official images, the two colorways are set to touch down on October 18th.

Simply put, CDG’s next New Balance project hones in on the clean-cut aesthetic championed by the Boston brand’s “Made In USA” line. While the 860v2 traditionally exudes a Y2K feel similar to the New Balance 1906R, CDG’s capsule skews toward a different type of “dad shoe” vibe. Reminiscent of New Balance’s 990 series, CDG calls in suede overlays, dark leather underlays, and a more tight-knit mesh base akin to MiUSA footwear. Their choice in colorways also strikes a familiar note; one pair centers around New Balance’s hallmark grey hue while the other comes painted in black.

The delivery embodies CDG’s current reputation as a collaborator. The bulk of the Paris-based label’s output is either monotone or similar to a coinciding GR, often commanding retail prices far higher than those of other collabs. For better or worse, the strategy has proven effective, with CDG maintaining strong working relationships with all the biggest sneaker brands.

Again, both CDG x New Balance 860v2 colorways release October 18th and will be available at doverstreetmarket.com and the DSM and CDG stores in New York City. No MSRP has been confirmed, but given what we know about CDG’s pricing structure, expect to pay upwards of $250+.
