Aside from sneaker industry titan Pharrell, the only other entity to earn a collaboration on adidas’ new Crazy Boost You Wear silhouette is Bristol Studio. Now, in conjunction with The Shoe Surgeon, the Los Angeles-based brand and the Three Stripes have teamed up for a three-piece capsule made exclusively for the SS–19 Bristol Studio Presentation, with no plans of ever releasing to the public.
Inspired by a sculptural approach to design, Bristol Studio wanted to emphasize the 3D nature of footwear, by adding a three dimensional texture to the quarter and medial side of each of the three designs. By doing so, Bristol Studio and the world renowned Shoe Surgeon were able to elevate the design of each silhouette from simple footwear to in-depth art.
Initially, sneakers are what got Bristol Studio founder – Luke Tadashi – into design, claiming he grew up with an obsession with adidas, Nike, and Jordan Brand as his pondered if sneakers could ever be considered their own art form. Materials the likes of aluminum, cardboard, plastic, and suede were all used in the creation of this art installation, being wrapped and warped around the silhouette, much like a sculpture and/or an industrial design project.
Each of the three Crazy BYWs ushers in Bristol Studio branding on its tongue as well as a distinct color scheme and materials that keeps it separate from its other two counterparts. Peep a detailed look at all three of the shoes below and be sure to tell us which one is your favorite.
