With the US Open — America’s biggest tennis tournament — in full swing, the Swoosh Brand’s NikeCourt tennis division has taken center stage over the past few weeks. From the Virgil Abloh-designed “Queen” collection made for Serena Williams to the release of their brand-new Zoom Zero tennis shoe, NikeCourt’s recent innovations have pushed tennis style in a bold new direction — and managed to make the the historic game “cool” again. Now that they’ve helped set the future, they’re set to take a commemorative look towards the past with the CourtLite, a classic tennis silhouette done up in both an NYC and a London-inspired colorway.
In classic tennis fashion both pairs call upon a supple white leather for a base, but their bold embellishments draw from their respective cities. The NYC pair arrives with colorful orange, yellow, and blue accents, nodding to the hustle and bustle of the city that never sleeps. The London pair opts for a more simple look with minimal green accents on the swoosh and outsole, acknowledging the white uniforms players must wear at Wimbledon as well as the grass courts they play on. Both shoes are then completed with a classic NikeCourt logo hit on the heel. As two out of the four cities that host a Grand Slam tournament are included in the pack, it’s reasonable to assume that we’ll see both French and Australian Open pairs in the coming weeks, so keep it locked here for updates and expect these first two court-ready kicks to drop September 1st for a modest $75 USD.
