As the official release of Nike’s new Air Max 720 draws closer and closer, it’s become apparent that the futuristic piece of footwear will heavily feature tonal gradient detailing. Drawing upon classic palettes like the “Sunset” — borrowed from the Air Max Plus — and also using precious metal colors like gold, the 720 certainly aims to catch your eye with its bold stylings. The latest colorway to surface? A “Carbon Grey” that features a similar fade effect to other releases, but trades out the extra-bold colors for something a touch more toned-down. A greenish-grey color is used on the upper — dark on the heel, lighter on the midfoot and toebox — while the Air Max unit is clear on the heel for a light, airy touch. Tonal plastic overlays appear on the upper, and a small black Swoosh on the lateral midfoot provides just enough branding. If you’re looking to add a pair of 720s to your rotation in 2019 but prefer something a little more straightforward, this pair just might be perfect for you, so keep your eyes out for a release on Nike.com sometime this upcoming spring.
Update: The Air Max 720 “Carbon Grey” releases on March 14th.
